I got sent this article to go on my site and this is the second version and well I'm going to put it on the site but I want to know how good it is. So please let me know how good it by the end the week (cause that's when I'm going to be deleting the article from the forum)
All right, listen up All Pokemon fans (especially our Misty Fans)
We must bring back Misty!
We need to because She is the only female anime protagonist as of yet who isn’t of the Female Anime Stereotype. To make this even Clearer, I have hated the Female Anime Stereotype, Pretty much as a result from My Mom telling me how awful this stereotype is. Just so you will all know, the female anime stereotype is this very offensive stereotype that portrays women as being “extremely well endowed”, as well as, personality-wise, being loud, whiney, obnoxious, silly, spoiled, throwing temper tantrums (not “Losing temper”, “Galloping greedy/sore loser crying”) and not to mention squealing like animals.
The episode starting my hatred of this stereotype (not to mention starting my extreme loyalty for Misty, which I will explain later) is in the episode “Princess vs. Princess” at least 8-9 years ago. My mom and I watched that episode and everything was going pretty well up until this scene:
Before I get to the back story, let me just point out that in this scene Misty never squealed like an animal in this entire scene at all (well, Jessie didn’t either, but that’s aside from the point).
Anyways, My mom, when she saw how those Girls Acted, said that she didn’t like how they portrayed women in that episode, and she explained to me that they were portrayed as being loud whiney and obnoxious.
There is some other info, but I’ll leave it out, since there are little kids on the website.
Also, on May the 26th, 2006, I went to the hospital due to a strange dry cough and pains throughout my chest cavity. While waiting for my X-ray results, I “saw” the tail end of an AG episode (I put the word saw in quotes since, technically, I never saw it with my eyes since I was busy trying to cover my eyes, but I did encounter it.) I then heard what sounded like a whiney poodlish voice coming from the TV, and at the time, I thought it was May. And since that day, I have hated her. Now, eventually I gave her a bit of a second chance, and saw the tail end of the episode again, and I think that I might have mistook her voice with a Surskit, however, it only lessened my hatred slightly. Eventually, on the third week of march of this year, I saw the Manaphy movie, and it only made me hate May even more than before (I only watched it for the water Pokemon), I mean, regardless of whether it was her PUSA VA or not, it was still very much a Female Anime Stereotype’s voice. Not to mention, sometime before the movie aired, I saw the pictures of that movie from Serebiiforums, and she pretty much acted like a coward at the end (and by that, I mean when Phantom kidnaps Manaphy again), I mean, she should have risked her life to save it by jumping into the water and chasing him, or at least sent out her Squirtle to recover it, but no, she just stood there in fright and didn’t even attempt to rescue Manaphy.
With Dawn, while she was much closer to earning my loyalty than May, she screwed it up in the episode where she captured her Buneary by complaining about her hair (and not to mention completely and utterly dissing Ash in the process), her extreme vanity was angering towards me.
Speaking of vanity, there was a point in “The Bicker the Better” where May stopped what she was doing (which nearly sent Ash to the Hospital, BTW) just so she could look at herself in the mirror, with complete disregard as to whether Ash would injure himself or not.
Misty never really was vain, I mean, even that line of her being a beautiful girl in the 2nd episode of Pokemon doesn’t quite cut the vanity factor.
Also, May is very Immodest (not braggart immodest, Artist model immodest). I mean, in Sharpedo attack, She stripped into a bikini in front of everyone (I mean Misty never did that at all [much less on screen]). Also, at one point May was wearing a towel in front of ash after one of Corphish’s pranks. I mean, I don’t really care if her clothes were drying or not. She should not have been near ash, Brock, or even Max for that matter, since being near them is immodest, since you are pretty much implying that you want to be in the buff near them.
Misty, on the other hand, never stripped onscreen, she also very rarely wore a bikini (yes, I know that technically she wore one for far more episodes, but it was only for a few seconds, rather than almost one fourth. Misty also never really wore a bikini in any of the original series movies, whiles May actually wore a bikini for 3/4ths of her movies.
May was also an extreme sore loser (and Dawn too, to a certain extent), May cried buckets when she lost the Kanto grand festival. I mean, really, if it was her first Grand Festival or even first contest, I’d understand, but this was her second grand festival, and what, 18th contest overall? So there wasn’t really a point for her to cry like that. Besides, she did better than the Hoenn Grand Festival (she made top 4, beating her top 8 record from the previous time) so there was just no excuse for this behaviour.
Misty, on the other hand, never really cried when she lost (or at least, it wasn’t just because she lost). I mean, Misty didn’t cry when she lost against Giselle, and besides which, she didn’t even cry when she ranked 3rd place in the whirl cup. If she did cry, it was because of something very serious.
Now, I must ask, and think deep down, do you really want girls to act like May, Dawn, Those Girls from Princess vs. Princess, and all of those sexist portrayal of females in any sort of anime? I don’t know about you, But I, as well as my family and most of the school that I asked to sign a petition to bring misty back most certainly doesn’t. Speaking of my family and schoolmates, in my American Literature class, I did a sermon of something that I strongly believe in, I decided to do the rationale as to why I am trying to bring back Misty, and why I hate the female anime stereotype. I showed them all the squeal video, some other things that I can’t mention in this article, as well as May crying after she lost. When I asked them all if they truly wanted females in this world to act like this, they all said “No, of course not!” and I also said I didn’t want that either, that it was bad enough that Anorexia/Bulimia is killing off many females in this world, as well as many ladies thinking they should act like stupid airheads just because many celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan acted like them, and if we don’t stop this stereotype soon, there won’t be a society. And on this year’s thanksgiving, I showed my aunts, uncles and cousins this threat of the female anime stereotype and all of them felt that it was a horrendous way to portray women.
These things I have listed are the reasons why we must bring back Misty. She is pretty much the light in the darkness that is the female anime stereotype. We must bring back Misty to stop the stereotype.
