I have noticed how quite a few forums and websites have chats attached to them and I was thinking about doing the same thing here with an actual IRC channel on the Purplesurge IRC network. This channel I happen to own and it is called #misty4ever which I think is a very appropriate name for one that could possibly be attached to a Misty fan site or forum. A Java gateway to the IRC channel could be embedded on the site since Proboards most likely does not support that kind of thing and we might have to lock the client down to only support this channel if we allow people who have not registered for the forums to go in and there might be the risk of trolls but a ban list is available for this very thing. Obviously this might mean getting permission from the IRCops on the network but it should not be a problem since other forums have attached IRC channels on the same network.

I can possibly make a .php page to embed the chat using a Java applet. Even though it may not work for some it's better than nothing.

Sounds like a good idea, I know of people who are dealing with Java clients so I might ask them about embedding them into websites. But the big question is that if Freewebs supports embedded content other than pictures and audio but I think they do. Java is low bandwidth on their part since it is not connecting to any server that Freewebs owns but rather another server on the network for the IRC channel.

The whole thing is done, the big solution was to create a new page on the site and embed custom HTML code which was given by the Mibbit widget creator through an option on the site creator. As a start there are five rules for the channel but more rules might be added as time goes on based on any issues which might arise with the users.

First of all- Hello everyone and sorry for being inactive for almost half a year. We're all busy in our lives, and some of us tend to forget about the Pokemon world out there. But that doesn't mean we don't believe in it anymore, oh no- quite the opposite... ( starting to sound like the pope )
anyway... I think it's a good idea. Some fancy programming could save the Forum, I just hope it will not turn out to be too little, too late- or it's gonna be an imminent demise for us.

I don't think the demise of the forums will be eminent and this was not a big deal at all. All I had to do was create a new page and paste some custom HTML code into that page which was made by Mibbit's widget creator. The Freewebs website tools actually offer a better degree of control than I previously thought but not enough to embed a Java client though.
