Here's a question that I'm surprised hasn't been asked yet. How did you become a Misty fan anyways?
Anyways, my story is bit of an interesting one. I first started watching Pokemon in winter of 1998 when I was in 8th grade. Like many other male adolescents just getting into Pokemon, I was a fan of Ash, and was neutral towards his two companions. To me, Misty was sometimes annoying but usually tolerable. Besides, there was already another female that occupied my life. My sister, on the other hand, was a major Misty fan. However, she didn't force her beliefs on me.
I moved in the summer of 1999, and although that devastated me, it did create an opportunity for Misty to come into my life. For one thing, it meant that I had to leave behind all of my friends, plus the girl that I had a massive crush on. I needed something other than memories to fill the void in my life. It just so happens that three months after the move, KidsWB began to air new episodes of the Pokemon series.
The first episode came on September 4, 1999, and it was Princess vs. Princess. While that was a terrific Misty episode, that wasn't what made me a Misty fan. After the episode came a new feature designed to replace The Poke-rap: Pikachu's Jukebox. Pikachu's Jukebox was a bit lame, simply edited versions of songs from the 2.B.A. Master CD juxtaposed with scenes from the TV show. The first Pikachu's Jukebox short was My Best Friends. The song was nice, but the key moment came at the very end, sandwiched between a scene from Clefairy Tales and a scene from Snow Way Out. It was a scene from Go West Young Meowth. Misty, all dressed up in a lovely red dress, appeared from behind a fan. It was then that the hormones began raging and the only think I can think of was "Wow...Misty..." And thus, I had developed a crush on Misty.
Yeah, it's kind of sad that my Misty fandom began as sort of a romantic crush. However, I began to take notice of her positive qualities beyond her looks, so that by the time my romantic obsession ended, I still regard Misty highly as one of my favorite characters ever.
So, what's the story with everybody else here?

good question for me I guess you could say it started a while back when I first watched Pokemon for the first time I liked all three of the main characters equally as much but later on I started to like Misty more than the others and started to notice some things about her such as her personality and other things about her and when I heard that Misty was gone I was just devastated because I had in a way became attached to her as a Pokemon fan.

Heh. I was not nearly as devastated because by 2003 I had already stopped watching new episodes and my consumption consisted solely on old episodes. However, it's still pretty tragic. She was the only other character to have appeared in every episode up to that point too.

to quote Misty herself "that's true." As I remember Brock left twice once in the Orange Islands and again at the end of Johto.

Well, in regards to just being a Misty fan In and of itself. well, actually I pretty much liked her since she first appeared, though it was to the same extent of Ash and Brock. now, in regards to how I became the fanatic Misty fan that i currently am, that is a different story. Like ajnrules, I also have a bit of an interesting background in regards to my extreme loyalty to her. however, unlike him, it wasn't because of a crush.
my extreme loyalty for Misty (not to mention my extreme Hatred of the female Anime Stereotype) started back in 1999, we (my Mom and I) were watching the episode "Princess vs. Princess". it was going pretty good. But then came these scenes...
PA: Attention, Princess Festival Shoppers! Attention Princess Festival Shoppers! Misty/Jessie: (looks up) Eh? PA: In just a few Moments, we will be holding the main event of this year's Princess festival: The Queen of the Princess Festival Contest. Misty: The Contest. Jessie: The Contest. Brock: Ahh... and the tons of beautiful Girls!! Pikachu: Pika-Pika! PA: The Prize for this year's contest will be a beautiful, one-of-a-kind collection of Pokemon Princess Dolls. Misty/Jessie: Princess Dolls?! PA: ...and, In addition, the winner will have her photograph taken with screen sensation Fiorello Cappucino. (Every single one of the girls in the shopping center, with the sole exception of Misty and Jessie, Squealed Like animals and trampled over Ash, Brock, Pikachu, James and Meowth)
____________________________________________________
Emcee: and now let's take a look at the special prize everyone will be competing for... right here! (The Princess Doll set is being moved up the stage by an elevator platform on the floor.) There's no other like it in the world! It's Unique, It's ANTIQUE, it's a beautiful, hand crafted, luxurious, one of a kind Pokemon Princess doll set! Batteries sold separately. Pikachu: Pi-KA-chu! Ash:I'd Like one of those Myself! (Those girls, again with the sole exception of Misty and Jessie, squeal like animals [though the closed captioning seem to have them saying "Fiorello!"].) Fiorello: Ciao, Bella! (Teeth glints) It's Good to be here! (those exact same animalistic Airheads, yet again with the sole exception of Misty and Jessie, sexistally squeal like Animals.)
My Mom then reacted and said after the squeals were over "I don't like how they portrayed women in that episode.". I then asked her "Why not?" she then said that they portrayed them as loud, whiney, and obnoxious. now, It didn't immediately start here, It only, how to put it, planted the seed.
In the summer of 2004, I went to Myrtle Beach and encountered the Manga called Love Hina at the walden book store on Barefoot Landing, and showed it to my mom (I believe that the Manga in question was volume 8.) My mom was somewhat unsure, considering Naru's huge chest. she briefly looked through a few pages, and discovered that it was actually much worse than that. the girls in that graphic novel were portrayed as being Loud, whiney, obnoxious, silly, spoiled, and throwing temper tantrums (temper tantrums, as in, The Galloping Greedy Gimmies). My dad also came in and said that her chest size was so huge that she would need a wheelbarrow to get around.
when I noticed that Misty left way back in a magazine scan from 2005, I was deeply troubled, but unsure. and remained neutral to whether Misty should come back or not, But then, that day came when I first encountered May. It was 6:00pm, at scottish rites hospital on May the 25th of 2007. I went to scottish rites childrens hospital because I was experiencing Pain all over my chest cavity and had a strange, dry cough. My doctor told me to get an X-Ray there because I might have had walking pneumonia. while waiting for the X-Ray, not to mention the results of that X-Ray, the Pokemon Episode "Maxxed Out" just so happened to be on. I got fearful of watching "Pokemon" since during that time period, I was very fearful of watching Pokemon and several disney films that i liked and being called a Baby just because I watched them (now note, the only experience I had of it was from a Memory of "Arthur" and he was calling Mary Moo cow a baby show repeatedly, and in essence called his sister DW a baby.) and while I averted My eyes, I heard what I thought at the time was May's voice (It actually was a surskit, but even still) And she sounded like a whiney Poodle. and a few moments later, the head of radiology came up to me and said that I have to stay at the hospital for corrective surgery (turns out i had a collapsed lung). Since that day when I heard May's voice, I have hated her. In fact, My Loyalty to Misty had risen to it's extreme and I joined the Official Misty (Bring Her Back!) club soon thereafter. This is how My Loyalty to Misty rose to it's highest extreme.
As to what happened later after I joined the clubs, I watched the Manaphy Movie, and believe me, I now have audio/visual confirmation that May is of that Hated stereotype, since her voice in that Movie, regardless if it was just her PUSA voice, was very much a female anime stereotypes voice. I attempted to give Dawn a chance, but, come the Buneary episode, she utterly ruined that chance as soon as she complained of her hair.
I also have a few more posts from other forums that i will upload later.

May and Dawn never had much of a chance in my eyes after I watched an episode that had May in it (it also had Misty in it) from this I assumed that May was a fangirl when it came to Misty. Both of them could not even compare to Misty other than the fact that they were both in a way involved with Pokemon and the fact that they traveled with Ash. Misty has some unique things about her such as she was the only main character (so far) to have traveled with Ash for more than two or three seasons, she traveled with Ash for five seasons and was also the only main character to have had more than one Pokemon at the time of her first appearance and also Misty was the only main character to have a Pokemon and it's evolved form on her team those Pokemon were Staryu and Starmie and also the only main character to have genderless Pokemon again, Staryu and Starmie. Dawn on the other hand, seemed ok but a bit boring and again could not even compare to Misty and the same will be said about who ever comes after Dawn in the later generations they will never replace Misty as my favorite character no matter what.

Yeah, I have never seen any of the Hoenn or Sinnoh episodes, and now I'm glad that I haven't. Yeah, Misty's strength of character is one of the reasons why I like her so much. She is fiercely independent, knows what she's talking about, and is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. I think what drove me from the series during the Orange Islands is that there were constant portrayals of Misty that is unlike what she was like during the Kanto series.
And do you have Princess vs. Princess on your computer or something? XD

well, for ajnrules, I just wanted to say that I don't really have "Princess vs. Princess" on the computer, but I do own it on both VHS and DVD. I also asked Pokecommunity for some clips from Princess vs. Princess, but it hasn't exactly been answered yet.
Also, just to let you all know, we strike tomorrow... by submitting all of the Misty fans petitions from around the world, as well as our global boycott letters.
Also, During Thanksgiving, I gave a speech to most of my relatives stating why I am severely loyal to Misty, and why I hated the female anime stereotype. they agreed with me and signed my petition.
Anyways, that's all for now.

Ok, just wanted to say a few things... nickstr, I PMed you the clip request, just fyi. Also, If you don't want any more explainations from me in regards to my hatred of the female anime stereotype, and how it ties into my loyalty to misty, I understand. But i have some other explainations if you want them. though, in regards to options, do you want the short, quick blurb with some pictures, or do you want the big, unabridged tamale? Also, anyone else on this site who wishes to respond as to reveal why they became misty fans, feel free to do so. (I was allowed to say that, wasn't I?) anyways, thats all for now

I just read the PM about the clips a while ago and will try to find them. Also involving the petitions, I searched for and signed as many as I could over the past few days and one of them had about 28,000 signatures, yes you read that right 28,000! That one has been around for a while though, as more people learn about these more will sign them if they believe that Misty should return which is what I believe and many others believe the same thing too that is obvious from looking at the comments left on some You Tube videos and also on other forums.

Hi, nickstr: Look, sorry if I have to bring this request up again, but... It's been over 2 weeks and I really need the squeal clips for our plan to bring Misty back/annihilate the female anime stereotype to work (the acquiring followers part, and maybe the whole convincing the writers part.). if you are still having trouble, I might wait longer. BTW, I'm sorry if I have to give the specific scenes, but it is 05:26-06:59. Once I get them, I'll thank you on all of my posts that contain It. ajnrules: sure, I'll post them, but I can't show you one of my petitions due to it being a handwritten petition (I made 2 petitions, one of which is in one of these links) Also, in the hand written petition, I have collected over 900 signatures. here they are: www.petitionspot.com/petitions/BringMistyBackOntoPokemonwww.petitionspot.com/petitions/bringbackmistywww.petitionspot.com/petitions/BringBackMistytoPokemonwww.petitionspot.com/petitions/ISwww.petitionspot.com/petitions/www.petitionspot.com346now note, the 3 petitions after the Bring back Misty to pokemon advanced petition hasn't been submitted yet, so you might be able to submit all of them if you want. mistylover19967: It's good to hear that. Also, Do you also hate the female anime stereotype? I wanted to ask, just because we might have something in common. Also, has anyone submitted their petitions (the Handwritten ones, I mean.) BTW, I may be in a bad mood since fairly recently someone by the name of PDL basically dissed me and my family/friends. He asked if I was raised by Hicks and that me, my family, and my friends IQ's combined are barely that of Boiled cabbage, and the last time I checked, that is a purely disrespectful insult to me and especially to my family and friends. I mean, I never even Insulted him for that matter, I was only trying to state my beliefs as to trying to Bring back Misty and just trying to tastefully refute his arguements in regards to brock (kind of like Devil's advocate). Besides, considering how he just insulted me and my family and friends rather than actually refuting my arguement, he hasn't even come close to winning his arguement, if anything, he only proved that he couldn't really back up his arguement. I mean, really, Insulting someone after they mentioned something to counteract your arguement is no way to win an arguement or debate, it's just another way of not being able to back up your arguement. Aw well, At least I reported him on Serebiiforums (since that's where he made that offensive post), all I have to do now is wait and see if they ban him. speaking of waiting, if anyone here has submitted your petitions to the pokemon company, we'll (or at least I'll) have to wait until at least January the 3rd. well, since no ones decided on which one you'll want to read, I'll choose for you. this one's the abridged version from the Misty returning polls: Speaking of the Misty polls, out of all of the three main pokemon sites (Pokecommunity, Serebii.net forums, and Bulbagarden.net forums), 2/3rds of those polls ranked with Misty shall return in first (Bulbagarden obviously hasn't, but then again, it is neck-and neck right now [at least, with the no she shall not return votes.].) I think tomorrow after everyone has responded I will post the big tamale from BMGf's Misty club. Anyways, that's all for now.

Yeah. It really sucks when people turn to personal attacks as last resorts in arguments just because they hope that can somehow invalidate your arguments. "You made a good point, but you are a fool, so your point does not hold." That's completely frustrating. Anyways, you should be confident that you have the support from all of us in here. And thanks for the URLs. Anyways, I have the squealing clip you wanted, but the quality is pretty terrible, so you may be better off waiting for nickstr, but if you're really desperate or one, you can always use mine, I guess. I don't know if it being a .flv will be a problem. (I have no idea why it is.) smg.photobucket.com/albums/v296/Sporks/?action=view¤t=Squealing.flv
