You cannot catch Starmie wild but you can catch Staryu, level it up a bit, and then use a Waterstone on it to get Starmie. I would strongly recommend it since Starmie is a one of the fastest water types and it also has a broad movepool meaning it can cover for most of its weaknesses except for electric but if you were replicating Misty's team Politoed can learn a few ground type attacks.

Politoed, Politoed, Politoed, Politoed, Politooooeeed... lol I really dislike that pokemon, why didn't it evolve into Poliwrath!? It had to take Ash's crown thing and... ehhhhh anyway, I think I'll give myslef a break with Misty's team but I'll still try catching Staryu.

Oah, don't worry, with the anime having secured its existence for at least an another year ( read my Pokemon : Galactic Battles topic ) we will surely see dozens of pokemon games coming out. You know, out of all things that relate to pokemon, that would be the last one I'd worry about...

Woot. National Pokedex complete on Platinum. Just another 44 wins on the Battle Tower to get my 5th Star, and the Black Trainer card.
